Law enforcement in Sacramento are working a shooting incident that broke out on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area at the moment law enforcement were shutting down an unsanctioned gathering Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 of several hundred people.

Before the Gunfire

Law enforcement first arrived at the park on Howe Avenue shortly before 6:30 in the evening after receiving reports of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Shortly after, a follow-up call was made about a possible fight taking place near the park.

A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but reported no active disturbance. Despite this, it was evident that a massive group had gathered without authorization without any permit or approval.

When the Shots Rang Out

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies began the process of clearing the park by forming a perimeter and using their vehicle PA systems ordering the crowd to clear out. Nearly 15 minutes were allotted for the crowd to leave.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged. Gunfire sent hundreds fleeing. Officers quickly moved to identifying shooting victims.

Those Who Were Hit

By the time the scene was secured, four gunshot victims were found to have been shot. Those injured — a group of one female and three male victims each reported to be in their mid to late twenties — were rushed to Sacramento area hospitals. Hospital staff indicated that two victims were in serious condition, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one had injuries classified as minor. Thankfully, each of the four victims was stable.

Sacramento Metro Fire provided support and aided in treating those with gunshot wounds prior to hospital transport.

Crime Scene Evidence

The primary shooting scene was believed to have unfolded on the Cottage Way corridor next to the Home Depot store on the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators located more spent casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Bullet damage were discovered in the iron perimeter fence bordering the nearby Home Depot. This ballistic evidence confirmed that one of the gunmen had been discharging rounds toward the south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot building and parking lot. That Home Depot location was locked down while the scene was active. Forensic investigators and law enforcement detectives continued working for hours.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Information relayed through scanner monitoring revealed that a Kia was pulled over in an area within Solano County. Four occupants were detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were heading to pick up the four detainees to return them to Sacramento for formal questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators confirmed that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
